KINOMURAL OPEN CALL 2026 | ON REPEAT

Not everything that repeats itself is automation.
Not everything that returns does so without reason.
Repetition may be a decision. It may be a necessity.
Sometimes a way to test whether form still has the power to function.

Occasionally, repetition gives rise to something more, an impulse to revisit the same experience. This is when ritual emerges, something that suspends cotidianity and puts time in order.

In image and sound, repetition changes the gravity of matters.
The same shot, when repeated, no longer conveys the same meaning.
What was in the background moves onto the foreground.

The chorus does not carry the plot.
The chorus halts it.
It returns to mark the moment and allow it to resonate.

Some works do not demand interpretation. They demand presence. At times, things simply refuse to settle, so they must be reviewed again and again. The outcome is unclear. Switch to ON REPEAT mode and get to work. We’re looking forward to the results!

practical information

Works submitted to the KINOMURAL OPEN CALL 2026 competition may be either works created specifically for the competition or works from the artist’s previous portfolio.

The KINOMURAL OPEN CALL 2026 competition consists of two stages:

  1. A call for entries, the aim of which is to select works that will be presented in the form of large-format projections on the side walls of buildings in Wrocław’s iconic Nadodrze district.
  2. A competition, the aim of which is to select and award the creators of three selected works with a financial prize of PLN 3,000 gross each.

Each artist may submit a maximum of two works for selection. All works selected for presentation during Kinomural in September 2026 will take part in a competition in which an international jury will award three financial prizes.

The Contemporary Lynx Magazine editorial team will also award a special mention in the OPEN CALL section. The winner will be interviewed in the magazine.

Participation in the call for entries implies acceptance of the rules and regulations of the Kinomural 2026 OPEN CALL call for entries and competition.

There is no repetition.
Only insistence.
