Increase in Entropy
The term ‘entropy’ refers to a measure of disorder in thermodynamics and unpredictability in information theory. This work depicts a process in which images dissipate into disorder through increasing entropy, while simultaneously generating new structures and forms of order. According to the second law of thermodynamics, entropy in an isolated system always increases—a phenomenon interpreted as synonymous with the passage of time. While time itself cannot be precisely defined, our perception that ‘time is moving forward’ is grounded in this increase of entropy.
