Szum means noise in Polish. A raw signal from which patterns emerge. It is also the name of a creative collective that operates on exactly the same principle: from the intersection of architecture, sculpture, animation, music and code, coherent and immersive audiovisual experiences take shape. They create site-specific installations in which space, sound and light are equal co-creators. They help others tell their stories, translating ideas into spatial audiovisual experiences. They also perform live.
At Kinomural they are showing E Pluribus Unum, a work created specifically for this edition of the festival.
E Pluribus Unum begins with cell division and the idea of repetition. Not the copy, but the moment when what returns starts to behave differently. Particles come together, split apart and reorganise. It is the same logic that drives electronic music: repetition, subtle shifts, things slowly building. From many, one. A simple principle, but in practice something that keeps unfolding, never quite the same way twice.
