Some collaborations are planned. This one just happened. Olga from Poland, Christoph from Germany and Malaysia, both ended up in Porto, and somewhere between the city’s light and its Atlantic winds, they started making things together. Live performances, site-specific installations, audiovisual works. First in Porto, then in Poland, then wherever the work took them.
What holds their practice together isn’t a manifesto or a method but a shared instinct: keep it simple, stay open to accident, and don’t be afraid of a little humour sneaking in. They trust each other enough to experiment freely, and that trust shows in the work. Their most recent pieces are somatic, immersive experiences that take organic physical objects and sounds and dissolve them into the digital realm, asking how much our perception of something shapes the thing itself.
At Kinomural they’re showing Touch & Sunscreen.
Touch & Sunscreen was born in Jelsa, a Croatian town where stone is everywhere: in the water, on the beach, in dense clusters fencing off houses from the wind. The inspiration came from “suhozi,” a traditional Croatian technique of building dry stone walls without any binder, assembled like a puzzle. Each stone in its place, held by nothing but weight and precision.
From this grew an animation about falling stones, which first appeared on the walls of a ruined house on the island. What was found in the landscape returns to space in a new form.
