For Arnaud Laffond colour is a raw material. He sculpts, treats and alters it digitally until it is reborn as something luminous and architectural, building virtual environments that sit at the intersection of technology and the senses. His work asks what happens when the digital is handled like something tangible, when code becomes texture and light becomes matter. His practice has taken him everywhere: from a solo exhibition at the V&A Museum in London and Standard Vision in Los Angeles, to the Amsterdam Light Festival, Impakt in Utrecht, Annecy, NewImages in Paris, Chromatic in Montreal and Punto y Raya in Wrocław. He has been twice nominated for Prix Ars Electronica and nominated for Best Experimental Video by la SCAM in France. During the Paris Olympics in 2024, his work Ola was exhibited at Poush Manifesto.
Mountains outlast everything. Or so we thought. Mountain Fragility takes one of humanity’s oldest symbols of stability and runs it through digital error, breaking it apart with glitches, distortions and visual noise until what’s left is something stranger and more honest: a landscape of collapse, somewhere between architecture and abstraction, between digital ruin and mental geography. The glitch here is not a mistake to be fixed but the whole point. A creative force that generates form, rhythm and emotion out of chaos. The soundtrack, Hadji Hajj’s Fragility of the Mountain, pulls it all into something genuinely immersive. Produced in 2015 by Wemotion. Nominated for the Prix Ars Electronica in the Animation category, and presented at the Mirage Festival in Lyon and the Athens Digital Arts Festival. Error never looked this good.
