Robert Seidel is an artist and curator based in Berlin and Jena. He studied biology and media design, and this dual education is evident in his artistic work: he creates projections, installations and experimental films with the aim of pushing the boundaries of abstract beauty through cinematographic approaches as well as those drawn from science and technology. For his visual projections he often uses conceptual and real visual surfaces such as architectural forms and self-created or appropriated sculptural forms.
The material for these media interlacings often comes from nature and the abstract gaze of science on nature, such as MRI images or 3D scans.
“My works take on the task to create a coherent, personal utopia pointing towards the universal possibilities of art in the flow of history and its friction with today.” – Robert Seidel
