Max Hattler is an artist and academic who works with abstract animation, video installation and audiovisual performance. His approach is “discovery-driven and open-minded”, he doesn’t start out thinking about exactly what he’s going to get, but uses trial and error and continuous editing to get where he needs to go. He has an MA from the Royal College of Art and a PhD in Fine Art from the University of East London. His work has been shown at festivals and institutions around the world and awards include Supernova, Cannes Lions and Visual Music Awards. He lives in Hong Kong, where he is an associate professor at City University of Hong Kong.
