Maryia Syrakvash has a soft spot for old stories that refuse to grow old. Originally from Belarus and now based in Wrocław, she works with illustration and graphic design, drawing inspiration from folk culture, mythology and symbolism. She enjoys taking familiar motifs apart and finding new meanings hidden inside them.
At Kinomural she presents Jeszcze jeden świt (One More Dawn), an animation inspired by the Egyptian myth of the sun god Ra. Every day begins the same way: the sun rises, travels across the sky, disappears and returns again. Rather than telling a story with a beginning and an end, the film celebrates repetition itself. Each cycle becomes the start of another, suggesting that perhaps the journey matters more than ever reaching the destination.
