Mariusz Lubomski has long resisted easy categorisation. A musician, painter, and singer-songwriter, he has spent more than four decades developing his own language, where music meets visual art and stage experimentation. In the 1980s, he co-founded the group I z Poznania i z Torunia with Rafał Bryndal, working outside the official cultural circuit of communist Poland. Rooted in student culture and the alternative scene, the group won first prize at Kraków’s PAKA festival in 1985. Two years later, Lubomski went his own way and right out of the gate, he picked up first prize at the Kraków Student Song Festival. Over the following decades, he has appeared on some of Poland’s most important stages for singer-songwriters and theatrical song, including the Kabareton in Opole and the Przegląd Piosenki Aktorskiej in Wrocław.
