Magdalena Król knows that dreams rarely follow a script. A door opens into a forest, a thought turns into an image, and somehow it all makes perfect sense while it lasts. A Graphic Design student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, she works across illustration, printmaking and graphic design, with a particular fascination for book arts and handmade forms. Her practice is inspired by nature, fairy tales and the work of other artists, while animation has become a space for experimenting with movement and new ways of telling stories.
At Kinomural she presents Sny (Dreams), an animation built around the wonderfully strange logic of the sleeping mind. Scenes flow into one another not through cause and effect, but through loose associations, memories and unexpected connections. Hidden within the film are clues encoded in Morse code, leading to a short message revealed at the end. A playful journey through symbols, fragments and shifting images, the work captures the mysterious rhythm of dreams, where everything is connected even when nothing seems to make sense.
