Brandon Eversole treats time like a material. Based in San Francisco, he works with moving images, sculpture and real-time systems, slowing footage down, stacking it on top of itself, and turning it into something you can almost hold. A moment becomes a volume. A sequence of frames becomes a form somewhere between image, object and memory. Crossing, created exclusively for Kinomural 2026, is his latest step in that direction.
Inspired by his ongoing Dreaming series, Crossing pairs his layered, time-stretched visuals with an original soundtrack by Ryan Smith, longtime member of Caribou and solo artist behind Taraval.
Smith built the audio using analog sound-generating systems, developing each sonic element in direct response to the movement, timing and textures of the visuals. Nothing is pre-set. Image and sound find each other in real time, breathe together, drift together. The result is something that feels less like a film and more like a place you’ve been to in a dream but can’t quite locate on a map.
