Takeshi Murata

Takeshi Murata  is an artist who explores a wide range of mediums and techniques, including video, animation, data-moshing and CGI. His practice revolves around the process of image-making and the concept of the digital afterlife.

Peter Foldès

Peter Foldès  (1924 – 1978) was a Hungarian-British animator. He was one of the first animators to use the tweening technique.

His film Hunger won the Jury Prize in the Short Film category at the Cannes Film Festival. 

Vibeke Sorensen

Vibeke Sorensen is an artist and professor working in digital multimedia and experimental animation, immersive interactive installation and visual music performance. Her work in experimental new media spans five decades and has been published and exhibited worldwide.

Larry Cuba

Larry Cuba is considered a pioneer in computer animation and is most notably known for his computer animation for the Death Star action sequences in “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” (1977). His works are characterized by cascading designs, startling shifts of perspective and precise, mathematical structure.

Lillian Schwartz

Lillian Schwartz is a pioneer of computer-generated art. From 1969-2002, she was a “resident visitor” at Bell Laboratories and Lucent Technologies, producing groundbreaking films and multimedia works. Famous for her expansive mindset, mastery over traditional and experimental mediums, and ability to create inspirational connections between science, art, and technology.

Agata Bartos

Graduated from the Dutch Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem. 

Conceptual and mixed media artist working on the borderline between visual arts, theatre and film. She is co-author of the film project THRESHOLD, created with Tomek Tryzna.

 

Tomek Tryzna

An independent and experimental filmmaker since the age of 16. Screenwriter and author. Author of novels that have been translated all over the world. His most famous book, the bestseller “Miss Nobody”, was promoted by Czesław Miłosz and filmed by Andrzej Wajda. In the 1990s he directed the TV documentary series “Kaskaderskie opowieści” and the original medium-length film “Czy można się przysiąść”. In 2022, his first feature film “The Light of Night” premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival.

Zuzanna Michalska

Zuzanna Michalska graduated in animation from the University of Arts in Poznań. She’s interested in abstract and experimental animation, and in her work she focuses mainly on visualising music and internal states.

Weronika Marianna

Weronika Marianna is a visual artist who works mainly with animation using various analogue techniques. Her trademarks include jittery universes full of melancholic creatures. Her animations have been shown at many festivals and galleries.

Weronika Leszczyńska

Weronika Leszczyńska is an animator and graduate of the Film and Audiovisual Culture Studies at the University of Gdańsk. She co-directed the animation “Everything is a remix”, which won the main prize at the Cinerama Fest and qualified for the semi-finals in the Best Animation category at the Student World Impact Film Festival. She created the piece ‘GAME OVER’ especially for this year’s Open Call.
